The Geriatrics, Disability and Long-Term Care Workforce Working Group
met throughout Spring 2010 to evaluate the current composition of West
Virginia’s aging, disability, and long-term care workforce. The working
group also explored future need to ensure that the state has a trained,
motivated and ample workforce to meet the care needs of its growing aged
and disabled population.
In looking at key professions relevant to the delivery of geriatrics, disability and long-term care, the working group:
● Collected data such as numbers
employed, average earnings, and projected growth;
● Compiled an inventory of training and
education programs across the state for these professions; and
● Identified policy priorities to
pursue to build and improve West Virginia’s long-term care
workforce.
At the June 2010 Partner Summit, presentations based on the following materials were presented.
